*Dream Theater*

Dream Theater is an American Progressive Metal band formed in 1985. "Majesty" was the previous name by John Myung (actual bass player), John Petrucci (actual guitar player) and Mike Portnoy (actual drummer). At beginning the band was formed by John Myung, John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy, Kevin Moore (keyboard player) and Chris Collins (vocalist). The band are formed actually by James LaBrie (actual vocalist - other vocalists are fired for performing less than adequately), John Myung (bass player), John Petrucci (guitar player), Mike Portnoy (drummer), and Jordan Rudess (keyboard player).
Dream Theater has become a successful progressive rock band, despite the decrease in popularity of the genre since the mid-1970's.

The first album When Dream and Day Unite was released in 1989. The band recorded a collection of demos The Majesty Demos, too, but with the previous name. After the When Dream and Day Unite Album, it came Images and Words (1992), Awake (1994), A Change of Seasons EP (1995), Falling into Infinity (1997), Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from Memory (2003), Octavarium (2005), Score (2006) and finally the album Systematic Chaos, released on June 5, 2007. It contains eight tracks, but technically only seven songs (tracklist in the end). The album Greatest Hit (...and 21 other pretty cool songs) is a good one, too, and it was released on April 1, 2008.
Related to the next album, Mike Portnoy announced on his forum that they would enter the studio in September 2008. The promotion of the new album will start in 2009. I hope that will be a great album with good songs like the previous albums.
When I heard the song Forsaken of the album Systematic Chaos at the first time, I begun to like some songs of this band. This song has many feelings and the lyrics demostrates that. It's a story of a man who is visited at night by a vampiress. While the man thinks he is being shown "beautiful things", in reality he is having his blood sucked by the vampiress. The Ministry of Lost Souls is a great song, too.
I recommend this band or its songs for everyone. I think they have deep lyrics and songs!
I leave here the videoclip "Forsaken" and the tracklist of the Systematic Chaos.
