English and Me

I started English in the 5th grade. I liked learning, the colors, the objects and the number anda I had good marks. But it was only the beginning when I sarted reading texts I had more problems. The marks became lower and the difficulties increased.
Now I am in the 11th grade, my last year of English and it is very difficul to have a positive mark. I understand the grammar rules however my vocabulary is very bad and I don't understand the texts.
I would like to know how to speak English better.....

Unemployment

Unemployment is increasing in the World and Portugal isn't an exption. The goverment said that the unemployment rate would decrease but this isn't happening.
The unemployment rate is more or less 10% in Portugal. In the past the unemployed people didn't have qualifications. Nowadays there are many people that have a degree but they don't have a job. People study at university but when they finish they are unemployed. When this happens peolple are frustrated, sad and they lose their expectations in a future.
I also want to go to university and I hope that this doesn't happen to me.

Portugal's National Team

The National Selection of Portugal this year will dispute the European Football Championship to be held in Austria and Switzerland.

In the European past, Portugal, the Portuguese selection dispute was the final but was defeated by Greece, perhaps this year will win.
Some Portuguese have already started putting flags in the windows of houses and cars to help the selection.

The team is currently training for having a better ranking in Europe of 2008.
I think Portugal has a team with very good players and has many ways to win.

Recycling

Nowadays the environment is one of the most important topics, because people are more worried about nature and our planet is very polluted.

To solve this problem people can recycle materials that have no utility.
Recycling emerged in the 1970, when environmental worries became more important.
Recycling is the term originally used to indicate the reusing of products. Materials that would become commom trash are separated, and processed to be used as new master-products.
The materials that can be recycled are: plastic, metal, glass, paper and batteries.

Recycling doesn't only reduce the volume of the residuals in the dumps but it also permits to save raw materials, aluminium, petrol and wood. Besides we need to reuse the material, so that we can reduce the consumption of energy and contribute to the preservation of the environment.
